THE REASON WHY WE EXISTS

Karukku presents product selections that cater to the preferences of health-conscious consumers and those seeking soft drink crafted with 100% natural ingredients and devoid of added sugars.

Siwalan tree (Borassus flabellifer L.) is a versatile plant that has been used for various purposes by local communities for decades. Almost every part of the plant can be utilized for different needs. The roots can serve as traditional medicine for some ailments, as well as fuel or fertilizer. The stems can provide building materials and be processed into a staple food called sago. The leaves can be woven into walls, fences, mats, baskets, brushes, ladders, and other household items. The fruit and the sap that it produces from its stem are edible and refreshing, with a sweet-and-sour taste. They can also be made into palm sugar.

By conserving the siwalan tree, we can ensure the sustainability of these benefits for the present and future generations. Moreover, the siwalan tree also contributes to the ecological balance and biodiversity of the region, as it provides habitat and food for many animals and plants. Therefore, preserving the siwalan tree is not only a matter of cultural heritage, but also a matter of environmental responsibility.
